Well, I couldn't wait; went ahead and ordered my new iPod. I figure it will come in handy during my dental torture (aka root canal) on Tuesday. :( (I have several audiobooks to listen to that might take my mind off the whole unpleasant mess...)

I like the bigger color screen on the new iPod. Don't like that it's practically impossible to view what's on the screen if the backlight is off. The 1st gen ipods had what I guess were regular LCD screens, so were easily viewable without the backlight. These new ones are different - so dark that the backlight is a requirement.

I also wish they'd thrown in one or two videos on the new pod, so I could see it in action right away. Heck even a coupon for a free song or video from the iTunes music store woulda been nice. But ohwell.

I'm a bit disappointed that there doesn't seem to be a way to plug the ipod into my ibook (my secondary computer, which I pretty much only use when I'm traveling) and view/listen to content on it; the entire playlist is grayed out. I can understand them wanting to stop thievery, but I don't see why they didn't make it viewable in a read-only capacity. Sigh...
