I've banished the PHP from my site and switched over to Mason. The blog was the only part that was PHP, but the back side was all still Perl/CGI. I had decided on PHP originally because I thought I might share the blog code with my dad or some friends who were looking to start blogs, but finally decided that wasn't a good enough reason to use an icky language like PHP.
So now it's Masonized. I use Mason and Perl every day, in my work and in other personal programming projects. No reason not to use it here, too.
