Kira's Photos

I've been into photography for as long as I can remember. Went digital in the summer of 2000 with a Nikon Coolpix 990. (Most of the photos in the albums below were taken with the Coolpix.) In 2004 I got a Canon Powershot SD550 for Christmas, and haven't looked back; it's a great little camera. (There are lots of newer Powershots out now though.)

Unfortunately my picture-taking has outpaced my album-creating... though I have started experimenting with SmugMug for hosting albums. I really like their look and interface.

Anyway, here are some of my photos. Enjoy, and feel free to drop me a note about 'em. :)

My Dad is also a photographer (and so was his dad). Obviously it runs in the family. :)

Travel Pictures

I've begin moving all of my travel photos to a new website, occasionaltourist.com. So, if you get redirected, that's the reason. The new site is better organized, so now it's easier to browse and easier for me to maintain and update.

October 2001: The Texas Renaissance Festival
October 2001: Boston, New Hampshire and Maine
July 2001: My annual trip to the model horse convention BreyerFest in Lexington Kentucky. LOTS of pictures of models; a few real horse pix from the Kentucky Horse Park.
June 2001: Pix from my trip to the Bahamas for my sister's wedding.
April 2001: Tons of photos from my recent vacation to Florida. I visited many relatives I hadn't seen in a long time. I got to dip my toes in the (cold!) surf of the Gulf of Mexico. And I saw more airplanes than I normally do in a year, by visiting the Naval Air Museum in Pensacola, and the Air Force Armament Museum at Eglin AFB.
July 2000: Some photos I took in Kentucky last summer

Flower Pictures

Feb. 19, 2002: My orchids are finally blooming. I love orchids, they're so simple and beautiful, and the blooms just last and last and last...
Dec. 28, 2001: I bought this amaryllis as a bulb (already with sprouts on it) around the first of December. It bloomed on Christmas Eve, perfect timing. Not sure which variety this is, but it turned out lovely.
Dec. 9, 2001: A close-up of the exquisite little flowers on my rosemary plant. I've never seen it bloom before, so discovering this today was quite cool.
Beautiful flowers

Misc. Pictures

Oct 31, 2003: Pumpkin on my patio
Feb 21, 2002: A storm moves over Houston, with some pretty cool cloudscapes.
The view from my apartment
September 2000: A cute kitten I found in a parking lot.
I didn't take this pic. It's an old (1956) photo of my dad's family (taken by my granddad).
A picture of me, May 2006.
